Deepening Your Meditation Experience

Many of us struggle on the periphery of the realm that gives us a deep, soothing experience when we meditate. We merely touch the surface. For some of us, that’s the way it has been for months or even years. For others, a tepid, imperceptible sensation that seems to make us mildly calmer is all we have thus far – we await the moment where the meditation experience can penetrate into us.

In fact, all this may be true of the 80% of us meditators. But some of us are fortunate to have the nectar of deep meditation at some points in time, however infrequent it may be.  The question is – how is this state achieved and why don’t we get this every day and each time we meditate?

How Do You Deal with Anger?

From Vara Prasad, Instructor, Sahaja Online

We hear a lot about road rage these days and recently I had my own experience with it. Driving in an area unfamiliar to me, I had to stop rather abruptly before merging on to the main road due to the cars on that road driving much faster than I was expecting. A driver on the main road, despite having been in no danger from me, stopped his car in front of me and proceeded to get out, come over to my car, kick my door, swear at me and then drive off again, whilst I thanked my good fortune for not ending up with a bloody nose.

Clearly, this was a massive over-reaction on the other driver’s part to what should have been a minor incident. It left me wondering about the role anger plays in our society. Everywhere we look there is a lot of anger and sometimes it seems as though these levels of anger are increasing.

So how do you deal with anger?

Becoming a Skilled Meditation Teacher

You’ll be surprised to know how precise Meditation and Spirituality can be in the way they work and the outcomes they produce. It’s very common to come across a lot of vague, feel good and ambiguous offerings and techniques in this area. Those who want to make money out of meditation exploit this very aspect very well.

Who after all knows a lot of detailed, specific things about meditation or the spiritual instrument within us? Just promise a bunch of things that people want to hear or wow them with some mystical, magical stuff and people will buy it just to try out something new and fancy.

Worse, many of them simply use auto-suggestion, a form of self-induced suggestion that may make you believe that you’re in a meditative or spiritual or relaxed state. When in reality, nothing actually happens.

Well, not Sahaja, for sure. We’re here to prove, demonstrate and share very specific constructs and knowledge of how meditation works and the spiritual basis behind it. We like defining everything very precisely and clearly and backing that up with science as well as practitioner experiences that serve as anecdotal information.

And arguably, meditation is a skill by itself and not very easy to master. Since we’re not here to sell you anything, we’d like to tell you that it takes patience, perseverance, and hard work to acquire this skill in order to realize the benefits. Yes, you heard it, you cannot become skillful or an expert unless you really work hard after learning a lot from expert instructors.

Here’s our favorite list of precise aspects in our meditation practice that we’re in fact, proud of. And tips on how you can become a skilled meditation teacher.

How to Get to The Depths of Your Spirituality

It starts with understanding what spirituality is really about. Most people have their own understanding or version of spirituality. What exactly is it? Something religious, personal and some deep feeling inside? Being detached from the mundane things in life? Finding your inner self? Merely being one with Nature?

The truth is that Spirituality is very subtle and has some correlation to all of the above. But it is neither ambiguous nor elusive to anyone. Rather, spirituality can be a very precise, measurable and tangible experience, accessible to everyone.

Going deeper within is also a very definitive journey, it involves self-introspection, assessing your progress and the positive changes. It doesn’t have to be mystical. Most important of all, it has very little to do with merely feeling spiritual by doing a bunch of actions – it has to be tied to the outcomes in your life.
