From Fake News and Alternative Facts to a Common Truth

Sahaja Establishes A Common Universality in Our Perception

“Fake news” was recently made the official word in the Collins dictionary. No doubt, we’re almost tired of discussing this phrase by now because so much has been said and analyzed on this topic. “Alternative fact” was used by a slightly less popular personality, that’s probably the only reason it didn’t make it to the dictionary as well.

The bigger questions facing us are – why did such a concept as “Fake News” become so popular when it is clear that anything untrue should automatically disappear soon as it makes its emergence? Shouldn’t collective wisdom be able to see what’s true and what it isn’t? Why does something fake even make it all the way to become news and then be labeled as “fake news”? Could it be possible that our civilization has a genuine difference in perception? Before you jump off your chair and say “These are exceptional times created by one individual” or “Fake News” is not the norm, let’s explore some related examples of this concept.

Meditation strategies for dealing with Addiction – Part 1

A very recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in August this year provides a quantitative measure of the serious problem facing us from addiction:

  • 46% of Americans have a family member or close friend who is addicted to drugs or has been in the past;
  • Opioids account for more than 60% of drug overdose deaths;
  • Since 1999, drug overdose-related deaths have tripled in number.

We have dealt with addiction in a lot of detail on our website. Sahaja meditation works in multiple ways to help with addiction, primarily by:

  • Reducing stress and stress-induced cravings;
  • Making the practitioner more self-aware and mindful of thoughts and emotions, especially in the area of any addictions he or she might be dealing with;
  • Releasing negative thoughts and feelings through self-forgiveness that might otherwise lead to rumination;
  • Positively impacting neurotransmitters and neurohormones which regulate health and well-being;
    Increasing resilience and better coping skills by re-wiring the neural circuitry.

Changing The World Over A Century

This morning I logged in online to pay my electricity bill online and got a shock. Sure, it’s winter but the charges were way too high even for the seasonal change. And then I realized that I’d signed up for a green energy company as my energy supplier who had lured me in with a great introductory rate but over the last many months, had nearly doubled their rates compared with the other suppliers in my area. While I was proud of making that change to green energy when I signed up, I realized that living green isn’t just economically viable for most people.
